The Fiji Institute of Applied Studies, the publisher of the journal Fijian Studies: A Journal of Contemporary Fiji (see http://www.fijianstudies.net) has decided to initiate a Pacific Journal of Education, with the same objectives as those underpinning other professional journals around the world.
In deciding this, we considered at length the state of professional academic journals in Education in the Pacific, and came to the conclusion that there was a need for a specific/focussed journal on education in the Pacific.
We intend the journal to be published 3-times a year, with roughly one general issue, one per year on a particular theme related to education across the region, and one issue per year on a particular country.
The countries we include in ‘Pacific’ for this purpose are: Fiji, Tonga, Samoa, Solomon Is, Vanuatu, PNG, Niue, Tokelau, Cook Is, Tuvalu, Kiribati, New Caledonia, French Polynesia, FSM, Palau, Marshall islands, Northern Marianas, Nauru, Wallis & Futuna, American Samoa, and Guam. Hawaii is not specifically excluded; nor is it our intent at this stage to focus on it in any detail.
